Between the pressures of work, keeping a house in order, minding kids and making ends meet, having a family in Ireland today is no easy task.
It’s an often forgotten fact that parents are the primary educators in life. But with all the responsibilities of running a home, finding time to do the homework can be a real challenge. Finding ways to make it fun and interesting can seem impossible.
The Family Project was a series for RTE that followed six mentors and six families from around Ireland as they work together to overcome the issues that affect their lives as a family.
With two seasons already aired, the show featured celebrity mentors like champion jockey Johnny Murtagh, ex-TD Mary O’Rourke, author Sheila O’Flanagan, musician John Spillane, presenter Brendan Courtney, and comedian Jon Kenny.
All brought their own unique experience with education and the home to their new role, and were there to encourage the family to do the best they can in the face of many diverse challenges.
This series will show families how through simple changes in their day-to-day lives, by learning new skills and pushing themselves to new heights, they can enrich their lives and the lives of their children by learning together.
